So I've started doing faces - after trying still life for a while and realising that I don't suck anywhere near as much as I thought I did (turns out you just have to draw what you see, who knew??) I thought I'd try a face, just because it's what I'm aiming for and I'd like to know how far I have to go.

Obviously the first few were absolutely laughable. I think I should keep them, just because it will be interesting to look back on. But they are TRULY awful. The book I'm learning from is all about realism and shading and stuff, which I'm beginning to discover is NOT what I'm about. At least not when it comes to faces. So I tried a bit of a more stylistic approach and only drew the LINES I could see and imagine my absolute surprise when I managed a sketch that looked a lot like the picture I was drawing from (in case you're wondering it was a screenshot of Anders - of course!)

Eyes are still a problem, although I seem to have (with Cave_Fatuam's helpful advice) managed to improve my noses a bit. Eyes are a weird shape. Truly annoying.

I'm going to buy some sketch books when my husband gets back and possibly scan a few of my attempts in.
